Transfer Round-Up: Arsenal to swoop for Chelsea wonderkid, Manchester United target wants Premier League move

Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal are planning to negotiate with Dominic Solanke and snap him up.

In some other big transfer stories involving some of the big boys, Bayern Munich are eyeing one of Arsenal’s leading lights to boost their attack, while PSG’s highly rated young defender has seemingly opened the doors to a Premier League move with Manchester United very interested.

Arsenal looking to sign Chelsea wonderkid Dominic Solanke

Dominic Solanke is a name that not many football fans were familiar with. But that changed in these few days, more because of things happening off the pitch than on it. The 18-year-old forward is also part of the England u21 team and won the England young player of the year award in 2014.

Solanke recently made a shocking demand for a new 50,000 pounds a week contract to remain at Stamford Bridge. The teenager also wants assurances that he will be in the reckoning for a first team spot.

While Chelsea are still reeling from these brazen demands from their youth player, it seems like their London rivals Arsenal’s ears have perked up at this news. According to the Sun, the Gunners are planning to offer Solanke a deal which may not quite match up to his wage demands, but ensure that he breaks into the first team at the club.

Arsene Wenger’s track record with young players is excellent. The Frenchman has helped shape the careers of top players like Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Jack Wilshere, Hector Bellerin and is doing the same with Nigerian youngster Alex Iwobi. This could prove alluring to Solanke.

Bayern looking at Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to become their new talisman

Bayern Munich, dominant club that they may be, need to make a few big transfers soon as two of their star players Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben are fast approaching the twilight years of their careers. According to the Mirror, the Bundesliga giants have honed in on Arsenal’s indefatigable workhorse Alexis Sanchez to fill the void on their flanks.

Sanchez moved from Barcelona to Arsenal in 2014 and had an instant impact, enjoying a great debut season as he netted 25 goals for the Gunners. He has been derailed by injury this season though, but has still showed enough spark to be considered one of the key players in the Gunners squad.

The Chilean midfielder has two years to go on his contract, and Bayern Munich would have to pay a sizeable sum to acquire his services. He is currently rated at 42 million pounds by transfermarkt, but Bayern would probably have to shell out at least 50 to 60 million pounds to get Arsenal to consider a deal.

Marquinhos wants Premier League move, Manchester United interested

Brazilian center-back Marquinhos had big expectations when he moved from AS Roma to PSG in 2013 for a 25 million pound fee. However, he finds himself behind in the pecking order at the Ligue 1 club, with his senior compatriots David Luiz and Thiago Silva forming a solid partnership in the center of defence for the Parisians.

The 21-year-old is unhappy with this state of affairs, and had even expressed his admiration for the Premier League last month. His younger brother has now revealed that a move away from PSG in the summer is very possible with a number of clubs interested.

‘There are a lot of clubs who are interest in Marquinhos,’ the defender’s brother Luan Aoas Correa told French media outlet Canal +. [via: Metro]

‘They have already spoken with me.

‘With the club, Marquinhos’ agent, myself and my father we will make a decision.’

Manchester United have been linked with the Brazilian, and are desperately searching for an ideal partner for Chris Smalling. Marquinhos would fit in seamlessly into this young United team, and could prove to be a very astute signing for the Red Devils. He is currently rated at 24 million pounds by transfermarkt, but PSG could demand a transfer fee of anywhere between 30 to 40 million pounds for their highly rated young player.
