Real Madrid mounted a stirring comeback, as they came from two goals down in the final 13 minutes of their Copa Del Rey Last 16 second leg encounter against Sevilla to draw 3-3, qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition and extend their incredible unbeaten run to 40.

Sevilla hosted Real Madrid for the second leg of the Copa Del Rey, hoping to overturn the 3-0 deficit from last week’s first leg. And Jorge Sampaoli’s side started on the front foot as Danilo’s own goal put them ahead in the 10th minute.

Marco Asensio then hit back for the visitors through a wonderful individual goal in the 47th minute to put any thoughts of a Sevilla progression to bed. Sevilla however, weren’t going down without a fight and established a two-goal lead through debutante Stevan Jovetic and Vicente Iborra.

But just when it looked like Real Madrid ‘s unbeaten run had ended Sergio Ramos gave them hope, thanks to a cheeky 83rd minute Panenka penalty. And with just a few more seconds to go in the match, Karim Benzema completed the comeback to send his team into a frenzy and keep the run alive.

Twitter was sent into a tizzy as the match ended, and here are the best tweets as Real Madrid set a new Spanish record of going 40 unbeaten.

The Real Madrid fans on social media were ecstatic, as their team beat fierce rivals Barcelona’s previous Spanish record.
