Real Madrid returned to winning ways in La Liga on Saturday as they eked out a narrow 3-2 win over Malaga at Santiago Bernabeu.

The match started in frenzied fashion as Karim Benzema, Diego Rolan and Casemiro scored a goal each midway through the first half, as the hosts grabbed a slender one-goal lead. Chory Castro cancelled Los Blancos’ lead for the second time through a long-range effort, before the tie was finally put to bed 15 minutes from time.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored only his second league goal of the season, but not before his penalty was saved by Roberto Jimenez. And the Portuguese superstar was the toast of the Real Madrid fanbase after he sealed all three points for them, although he did have his fair share of naysayers too.

Karim Benzema saw his popularity soar among Real Madrid fans as he ended his own scoring drought and produced one of his better performances this season.
