Arsenal won their third game in a row, beating Newcastle United 2-1 at St. James’ Park on Saturday, thanks to goals from Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil.
Arsenal dispatched Newcastle United at St. James’ Park to take all three points, in what was their third win on the trot. Unai Emery and Arsenal fans will be particularly happy with the result considering the Gunners sit level on points with North London rivals Tottenham after Spurs lost to Liverpool at home.
After a drab first half, where neither team could create a clear-cut chance, Arsenal burst into life in the second half with goals from Granit Xhaka and later from Mesut Ozil, who was making his 200th appearance for the club. The Gunners though, were undone in their quest to keep a clean sheet after Ciaran Clark scored towards the end of the game.
Xhaka and Ozil though, were hailed for their contributions, as the duo silenced their critics quiet effectively.
People say stupid things like "we should have signed Kante not xhaka" like to see kante put that one away. #afc #NEWARS #cfc #AFTV #PremierLeague #LFC #football #ilovedisgame pic.twitter.com/EIanfN4bco

Quality free kick from Xhaka. People concentrate too much on the handful of things he does wrong, in a game. Appreciate all the good things he does #NEWARS

Ozil is a great filter to know if people understand football or just use it to complain and get their stress out. #Ozil #NEWARS We’ve got @MesutOzil1088 🤙🏻

3rd win on the trot! Almost a clean sheet… defensively we are still a lil shaky but the team is starting to get some shape! This game should bolster #Ozil's confidence surely. Onwards and upwards! #COYG #Arsenal #NEWARS

Lucas Torreira drew a lot of praise as well, as he changed the game upon his introduction at half-time.

Never said that #Torreira is bad at all. Just that I understand why #Emery did prefer #Guendouzi so far. You should have asked why! #Torreira definitely the better player of them both. Nothing to argue about this, but as it looks now is fit enough to get more & more game time.
