Liverpool left it really late to grab all three points on New Year’s Day as they beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor to kick off 2018 on a positive note.

The Reds dominated the first half without being incisive enough, but finally got their breakthrough at the hour mark, with a fantastic goal from the edge of the box. Just when it looked like all three points were secured though, Burnley equalised through Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

But, there was time for one more goal as Ragnar Klavan headed in the winner deep into injury time to ensure the win for his side. And the Estonian, as well as Dejan Lovren were hailed – and trolled – for their contribution, just when it’s starting to look like they’ll find themselves on the bench soon.

Sadio Mane was lauded for his goal as well, as the Senegalese winger stepped in the absence of Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.
