West Ham United optimistic of keeping Tim Steidten amid Liverpool links

West Ham United remain hopeful of retaining the services of their technical director Tim Steidten despite interest from Liverpool.

According to a report by The Mirror, West Ham United believe they can keep hold of Tim Steidten despite him being linked with a move to Liverpool. The Hammers’ technical director has done wonders for them and his impressive work has caught the eye of the Merseyside club.

Steidten’s impressive rise

Steidten had impressive spells at Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen before making the move to England in the summer of 2023. Since arriving at the club, the 44-year-old has already played an influential role in marquee signings like Mohammed Kudus and Edon Alvares.

While the team haven’t been at their best in the recent past and the future of David Moyes has been uncertain of late, the Hammers’ technical director is still admired by those in and around the club for his exceptional work that helped West Ham replace Declan Rice following his big-money move to Arsenal.

Steidten has helped the London club use the funds raised to not only sign replacements but also improve the squad as a whole. His work at West Ham hasn’t gone unnoticed, Liverpool are quite impressed with what they have seen from the former Leverkusen chief and are ready to make a move for his services.

Liverpool’s interest in West Ham’s chief

The Reds are preparing for life without Jurgen Klopp. The German manager has decided to end his stay at the Merseyside club at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Liverpool are now targeting a new sporting director who will oversee the rebuild after the departure of the former Borussia Dortmund manager who has won all major titles during his stint at Anfield.

The Hammers’ chief was recently asked about interest from Liverpool in his services. While he was quite honoured to be linked with the Reds, the 44-year-old made it clear that there has been no contact from the Merseyside club.

According to the report, the English giants will have to put forward a hefty fee and a substantial compensation package to prise Steidten away from the London club despite his admiration for the Reds.
