Liverpool are eyeing West Ham United’s Tim Steidten appointment to become their next director of football to replace Jorg Schmadtke.

Football Insider reckons Liverpool could attempt to bring Tim Steidten as their new director of football as Jorg Schmadtke awaits his impending departure. The Hammers executive does not have the best relations with David Moyes, but his talent spotting has been impressive.

Liverpool keen on Tim Steidten?

There’s an air of change at Liverpool in the background as the club gears up for a raft of new appointments, including a new manager and a director of football. In the wake of Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave the club in the summer, the Reds will also lose his key backroom staff, including highly regarded assistant manager Pep Ljinders.

The current director of football, Jorg Schmadtke, will also depart at the end of the current transfer window, as Liverpool is keen on a replacement option. They have seen links to Bournemouth’s Richard Hughes following his impressive work with the Cherries.

They are keen on West Ham United’s Tim Steidten, who has had an instant impact with the Hammers in a short period. The German was tasked with spending the Declan Rice money, which he did well, bringing in players like Mohamed Kudus, James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez.

Meanwhile, the Premier League talent spotter’s relationship with Hammers manager David Moyes has been a bit shadowy, as the pair had differences with transfer targets last summer. Irrespective of that, Liverpool are keen on his track record and could attempt to bring him for the director of football post.

Liverpool ramped up their managerial search.

Apart from a director of football, Liverpool will undoubtedly appoint a high-profile manager to replace Klopp. They are reportedly prioritising Xabi Alonso, and incidentally, Steidten brought the Spaniard to Bayer Leverkusen.

Steidten was instrumental in bringing top-rated stars like Florian Wirtz, Edmond Tapsoba and Piero Hincapie. Overall, the German seems like an excellent choice for Liverpool to consider, although their priority will be to bring in a new manager as soon as possible.
