Pep Guardiola is considering his future as Manchester City boss and is set to meet with the club’s heirarchy in Abu Dhabi with a decision.

According to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola ponders over a decision on his future as Manchester City’s manager. The Catalan will reportedly meet with the club’s top brass in Abu Dhabi during the World Cup break and relay his decision.

Pep Guardiola remains one of the formidable names in world football. The manager has had a successful career in the dugout with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now Manchester City. With the latter, he has won the Premier League four times..

In hindsight, only Sir Alex Ferguson achieved sustained success for over two decades, and it’s a difficult proposition in the modern game. What Guardiola has achieved at Man City is admirable, and there’s hardly any chance any other manager could bring such levels of success anywhere.

For all his efforts, dedication and plaudits, even Jurgen Klopp managed to win the Premier League once. This season, Liverpool have lost the plot and continues to struggle. It contrasts with what Guardiola is doing at Man City, and the club wants to continue the project.

Rumours circulated in the summer that Guardiola was ready to commit to a new deal, but he is yet to sign one. The report insists the Catalan will consider his future during the upcoming World Cup break. He will meet with the club hierarchy to relay his final decision.

Guardiola’s current deal expires in the summer, and there are chances he could walk away. It will surely come as a blow for Man City. The club are already keeping tabs on Mikel Arteta to succeed the Catalan.

The Arsenal boss may not look to leave the north Londoners so soon. He could consider managing Man City in the future. The current Premier League champions would certainly want Guardiola to continue. However, the Catalan continues to ponder on extending or departing.

Guardiola wants to evaluate the squad and determine if he can improve them further. Moreover, much will depend on how the team performs in the Champions League, a competition the manager has yet to win since joining Man City.

The upcoming break during the World Cup will be crucial in determining Guardiola’s long-term future at Man City. Fans will hope the Catalan stays beyond this summer and commits his future to the club.
