Manchester United are on red alert as concerns regarding Harry Kane’s long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur continue to grow.

According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Manchester United have been given a glimmer of hope in the pursuit of Harry Kane. The Premier League giants consider the Tottenham Hotspur forward as the ideal solution to their offensive problems but were always aware of the difficulties they might face in striking a deal with Daniel Levy, who is unwilling to offload his star asset to a direct rival.

However, this new report seems to suggest that Spurs could be forced to cash in on Kane if the striker goes public with his desire to leave. The player is believed to be unsettled as he is not convinced by the club’s ambition in the long-term.

Levy might be forced into a sale in such a situation even though the player’s current contract expires in 2024. It will be a difficult task for the club to keep hold of an unhappy Kane for three more years, and if no clubs meet their asking price, they might ultimately have to lower their demand.

It could be a welcome situation for Manchester United, who have been linked with a move for Kane for years now. Ever since the departure of Romelu Lukaku, the Englishman has been eyed as a potential replacement, although the fierce competition in the Premier League has made it almost impossible for a player of such calibre to join rivals.

Tables have turned in recent years, though, with Tottenham, in particular, struggling to gain relevancy following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino. They were knocked out of the UEFA Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb this season while they are also not really favoured in the race for the top four this season.

Manchester United, in contrast, have seemingly emerged as the second-best team in England, enjoying rapid growth under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, they boast an excellent creative unit that could be further strengthened with the potential addition of Jadon Sancho, although it remains to be seen whether United will want to meet Borussia Dortmund’s exorbitant price-tag for the winger.

Either way, United’s prosperity in recent years could make them an appealing destination for Harry Kane, knowing a move to Old Trafford could not only usher in a rise in stock for the player but also give him a comparatively better chance of landing a first major title in his career.

Much like Sancho, however, the transfer negotiation could be complicated and at the end of the day, the likes Barcelona and Real Madrid may ultimately have the upper hand, as far as Kane’s future is concerned.
