Bayern Munich Robert Lewandowski is reportedly keen on joining Real Madrid in the summer, with his agent set to initiate the operation soon.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Robert Lewandowski could be on his way to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The Bayern Munich striker dreams of representing Los Blancos, and his agent Cezary Kucharski set to offer the Polish striker to the La Liga heavyweights.

Lewandowski has cemented his stature as one of the best strikers in the world since joining Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2014. The player has consistently been among the top scorers in Europe, and is now truly a feared quantity for opposition defensive units.

Lewandowski has been on song this season as well, slamming 25 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions, and is leading the Bundesliga Golden Boot race as well. But, his spell at Bayern Munich seems to be coming to an end, ahead of what is most likely going to be the last big contract of his career. And he is eager to join Real Madrid.

Lewandowski’s agent is well aware of the fact that it is the striker’s dream to represent Los Blancos, and he has sent out feelers to the La Liga heavyweights for a possible move. Indeed, Real Madrid have previously been interested in the player too, and could be third time lucky after two failed attempts to sign him in the past.

Real Madrid’s need for a striker is well documented, with the previously prolific BBC trio struggling to create a lasting impact this season. Benzema, in particular, has been the embodiment of the catastrophic season that Zinedine Zidane & co. are having in La Liga, managing just two goals in 15 outings thus far.

It is, thus, widely expected that Real Madrid will go big for a striker in the coming summer transfer window, with Harry Kane and Mauro Icardi the names that have been discussed. And, Lewandowski could become another big name that could be on Florentino Perez’s wishlist in the summer.

At 29, the player is at the peak of his powers, unlike Kane and Icardi, and should take little time adjusting to the demands of a big club like Real Madrid, having already represented Bayern Munich. The Bavarians might not hold the player back either, despite him being a key figure at the Allianz Arena.

It has been Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s policy to let wantaway players leave, meaning Lewandowski could well be on his way to the Bernabeu, if an appropriate bid is lodged. It now remains to be seen if Real Madrid reciprocate and launch an assault for Lewandowski, or if they look elsewhere.
