Arsenal are reportedly considering a fresh approach for PSG superstar Julian Draxler, who is also a target for Barcelona.

According to an exclusive report from The Times, Arsenal are considering a fresh move for PSG superstar Julian Draxler. The player has also emerged as a target for Barcelona after reports claimed that the German has been secretly given his marching orders from Parc des Princes.

Julian Draxler was able to force a move away from Wolfsburg in a controversial fashion, with PSG obliging the German international in January, 2017. And the player did repay the faith, with 10 goals and 3 assists in total for the French giants in just half a season.

However, PSG have reinforced their wide attack quite a bit. Neymar has arrived for a world record fee while the likes of Angel Di Maria, Goncalo Guedes and Lucas Moura are also present at Unai Emery’s disposal. There are reports that Draxler has been secretly told he is not in the manager’s plans at Parc des Princes.

And with the player unwanted at PSG, Barcelona and Arsenal could both come in with an offer for the German international, who is available for £32 million. Arsenal are long-time admirers of the winger and have been linked with him in almost every other transfer window.

In fact, there were rumours that Mesut Ozil had laid down the arrival of Julian Draxler as one of his conditions for signing a new contract. With the playmaker still not committed to the Gunners, Arsenal’s pursuit of Draxler could kill two birds with one stone.

The 23-year-old’s signing could subsequently see Ozil sign a renewal at Emirates while Arsene Wenger would be able to have a readymade replacement in the squad, should Alexis Sanchez leave the club.

Barcelona on the other hand, could look towards Julian Draxler as an alternative to Ousmane Dembele, who has been on a strike at Borussia Dortmund in order to force through a move to the Catalan outfit.

With PSG needing to offload players in that position, Draxler could also be available for just £32 million – cheap by the currently inflated condition of the transfer market – an enticing proposition for Arsenal, who have been reportedly looking towards targets like Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez.

It will be interesting to see if Draxler, who had earlier iterated his desire to play alongside Ozil at PSG, could take up the same proposition, albeit at Arsenal.
