Arsenal and Tottenham are among a host of clubs interested in former Manchester City defender Florian Lejeune, who currently plies his trade for SD Eibar.

Daily Mirror have reported that Arsenal and Tottenham are both interested in SD Eibar centre-back Florian Lejeune. The player, who was formerly associated with Manchester City, has been heavily impressive for Eibar and is attracting interest from a host of clubs.

Florian Lejeune was bought by Manchester City from Girona in August, 2015. But, the player never managed to make his senior debut for the Citizens, with the Frenchman being loaned back to Girona before being ultimately sold to Eibar in July, 2016.

The 25-year-old, though, has found himself seemingly at home in Spain, establishing himself not only as a regular for Eibar, but a key component in their setup.

His influence at the back can be mapped by the fact that Eibar lost both the games that Lejeune failed to appear in, conceding an average of 3 goals per game while they have conceded just 32 games in 25 league appearances, at a bewildering average of less than 1.3 goals per game.

His performances have already got the top clubs circling around the talent, scouring the possibility of signing the Frenchman. Arsenal and Tottenham are among a host of clubs interested in the player, with Arsene Wenger having the player scouted on several times this season; and are likely to have received glittering reports back each time.

As per the report, Mauricio Pochettino is seeking reinforcements at the back for the next campaign, with the boss often deploying a 3-man defence and Kevin Wimmer reportedly more and more likely to leave the club in search of regular first-team football.

The player is contracted to Eibar till 2020. But, apparently, the player’s contract includes an £8.7 million buyout clause, which could prove to be a complete bargain for any of the suitor that do end up signing the defender.

The French Under-20 international had a somewhat unsavoury experience with a Premier League club in Manchester City. But, he could grab the opportunity to return to the league, this time posing a better challenge to prove his mantle in what is hailed as the most competitive league at the present moment.
