Manchester City will reportedly have to shell out £71 million if they want to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.

Gabon international Aubameyang is a man in demand in Europe currently, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring the star striker along with Premier League leaders Manchester City. But as reported by Bild (via TalkSport) Dortmund are keen to price the clubs out of the market by slapping the astronomical price tag on their striker.

Aubameyang has hit the ground running this season and already has netted 10 times so far, continuing from where he left off last season. Often rated as one of the top strikers in the world, Aubameyang’s stock continues to rise as he was also one of the 30 nominees shortlisted for the prestigious Ballon d’Or earlier this week.

Rumours around Europe suggest that English giants Manchester City could be in the market for a striker soon, with reports suggesting that Argentine forward Sergio Aguero faces an uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium after a rift with manager Pep Guardiola. And with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur willing to offer Aguero an escape route out of Manchester, City would certainly be in the hunt for an ideal replacement should the stalwart leave the club.

The £71 million price tag should not concern City too much as their financial clout puts them as one of the few clubs that could actually afford to buy the Gabonese striker. And if they do decide to offload Aguero in the coming transfer windows, Aubameyang is arguably one of the few options who could manage to replicate the form that has made the Argentinian star man such a force to be reckoned with in English football over the years.

With European biggies Real Madrid and PSG hot on the heels of Aubameyang too, Dortmund can have a hard time keeping hold of their star man.
