Pep Guardiola To Take Control Of Manchester City From 2016/17 Season

It’s going to be tiki taka at the Etihad Stadium next season, as Manchester City have announced the signing of Spaniard Pep Guardiola as their new manager from the 2016/17 season.

Guardiola, who is regarded as one of the best managers in the world right now, has brought a lot of success to FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the past, and the Citizens will be hoping that he will bring that level of success to the blue side of Manchester.

Manuel Pellegrini, the current manager at the club, is set to remain in his position till 30 June, 2016, after which Guardiola will head to the Etihad Stadium to take over, confirmed Manchester City.

“Manchester City can confirm that in recent weeks it has commenced and finalized contractual negotiations with Pep Guardiola to become MCFC Head Coach for the 2016/17 EPL season onwards,” said a statement by Manchester City on their official website.

“The contract is for three years. These negotiations were a re-commencement of discussions that were curtailed in 2012,” the club also confirmed in their official statement.

What about Pellegrini?

Manchester City confirmed that Pellegrini would stay on at the club till the end of the current season, before handing the job over to Guardiola on June 30. Till then, the Chilean manager will remain the manager of the club and try to guide them in the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League competitions, where they are still vying for the respective silverware.

“Manuel, who is fully supportive of the decision to make this communication, is entirely focused on achieving his targets for the season ahead and retains the respect and commitment of all involved with the leadership of the Club,” Manchester City’s statement further read.
