Raheem Sterling has made a positive start to his career at Manchester City, with the Citizens currently lying just a point behind leaders Manchester United in the Premier League table following some hiccups after a perfect opening to the season.
The former Liverpool FC youngster claimed he had no problems with anybody at the club, including manager Brendan Rodgers, while his move to Manchester City was being negotiated.
Sterling appreciates quality and experience of Manchester City teammates
Manchester City have one of the best squads in the Premier League, and 20-year-old Raheem Sterling has revealed that this is reflected in the quality of the training sessions. The diminutive winger compared his current teammates to those at Liverpool FC, claiming there is an appreciable difference in experience.
Sterling is quoted by the Guardian as saying: “The tempo, the passing, the two-touch movement in training; ita s really surprised me. Ita s really sharp, really good to be involved in. There are more experienced players here.
“Obviously, Liverpool had many great players as well but the players here have been at the highest level for many years and you can definitely see that on the training pitch.a
The youngster also denied that he had any problems with anybody at his former club, saying: “When everything was going on and it was in the papers every day, everyone at Liverpool was top-notch. I spoke to the manager every day.
“I spoke to all the players. Everyone outside the club made it out as being something really bad but there was no problem with the manager or the other players. The manager even invited me over to his house to talk. It wasna t anything like as bad as people made out.a
Sterling made the right decision
Although he might have received criticism for the way he orchestrated his move away from Liverpool FC, there appears to be little doubt that it was the right decision for his career. Quite simply, Manchester City are a better team than the Merseysiders, with a significantly higher chance of winning the top prizes in club football.
The biggest concern was always that Sterling would struggle to cope at a big club, and consequently might see his game time reduced. His first couple of months with the Citizens have shown that this is unlikely to be the case, with the Englishman always involved and already forming a deadly partnership with Aleksandar Kolarov on City’s left.
The 20-year-old will undoubtedly become a better player playing with world-class footballers and against a higher quality of opposition in the UEFA Champions League. One way or another, Sterling made the move that will take his career to the next level.
