Spurs Manager Says Chelsea Felt Like A ‘Small Team’ After 0-0 Draw

Tottenham Hotspur FC continued their undefeated streak after holding Chelsea FC to a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane, but manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that playing the blues felt like playing a ‘small team’.

Tottenham Hotspur has been one of the top teams in the Premier League this season and they dominated defending champions Chelsea during their nil-nil draw with more possession, more flair and more chances created. Pochettino took note of this fact and referred to the feeling he had that Chelsea was a small team.

“We played the defending champions and it is good that you get the feeling that Chelsea was a small team and Tottenham feel they can win every game,” the Argentine said post match, according to goal.com.

“It’s not easy. We are one of the younger teams in the Premier League and we need to keep working hard because there’s only been 14 games and today it’s too early to talk about the end of the season.

Pochettino felt that it was an improved display from the blues and it was to the credit of his team that they managed to get a point from the match.

“I think we created enough chances to score. Chelsea only had one shot on target in the second half from [Eden] Hazard, so I think we deserved more. Chelsea played one of their best games of the season, and I think that when you make the effort we showed today a and the maturity a you have to be happy with the players.”

Spurs on the rise

Tottenham have been unbeaten since their opening day defeat to Manchester United and now find themselves in 5th place on the EPL table, 4 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City. They have a young, talented and fit squad (including back in form striker Harry Kane) that have been impressing since day 1.

If they keep putting in good performances like they have been, then Spurs could be considered genuine title contenders this season. As it is, the quest for the crown seems to be wide open now.
