Real Madrid Made Me Feel Unimportant: Manchester United Striker Chicharito

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has insisted that Real Madrid made him feel unimportant during his time at Spain.

Real Madrid signed Javier Hernandez on a year loan last summer after the Mexican international was deemed surplus to requirement by new manager Luis van Gaal. The arrival of Radamel Falcao to Old Trafford meant Chicharito had to move elsewhere to look for regular first team action. The Spanish club were also in need of a striker after the departure of Alvaro Morata and Hernandez was shipped to the Spanish capital.

The trip to Spain didna t live up to Hernandeza s expectations though. The 27-year-old forward 23 appearances in the La Liga for Real Madrid, but 16 of those came as a substitute. Chicharito scored nine goals in all competitions, but the most important of them arrived in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid didna t use the option they had to buy him permanently at the end of the loan period and the striker has now returned to Old Trafford. Hernandez though, has left some parting shots for the Spanish club. The Mexican insisted that Real Madrid made him feel a unimportanta and expressed his frustration at spending so much time on the bench.

.

a The goal against Atletico was a relief because it was a difficult year with very few opportunities.

a It was a release. I had to warm the bench a lot. My time in Madrid was massively frustrating because I did not feel important.a a Hernandez said in an interview to AS.

But the striker has marked this as a learning experience specially while playing alongside former Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Cristiano is a great player. There are no words to describe him. He is a clear example that hard work pays off.

“The season at Real Madrid was one full of learning. It helped me find myself again as a player.” a He said in another interview.

Chicharito has remains unwanted by manager Louis van Gaal and is likely to depart from Old Trafford this summer. With United being interested in Harry Kane, reports suggest that Hernandez could be used in a player plus cash deal for the Englishman. Italian club Lazio and Inter Milan are also keeping a keen eye on the striker.
