Carlo Ancelotti - Real Madrid Manager | Real Madrid -

Speaking about the 1-2 defeat against Barcelona last month, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that he doesna t consider the defeat to be important as he sets eyes on the Champions League prize.

Real Madrid played a very good first half at Camp Nou but failed to take their chances as a second half goal by Luis Suarez sealed the fixture in Barcelonaa s favour. However Ancelotti believes that the club is back to playing in a style that he prefers and is confident that the results in the upcoming games will be positive.

“We have gone back to playing like we always do. I don’t consider that defeat important, though it was a bit of a blow. But all the signs for our upcoming games are positive.a

Carlo Ancelotti also spoke about Real Madrida s objective this season while reiterating the cluba s desire to retain the Champions League this season. Under the leadership of the Italian, Real Madrid could fulfil their long-awaited desire to win the a La Decimaa and it seems that Ancelotti has been entrusted with the responsibility to win the eleventh one for the Los Blancos.

“As I always say, the first objective is to get to the Champions League final and the second is to win it. Real Madrid are perfectly placed to compete at all levels and in all competitions, and the aim is to win them.”

Real Madrid: Winners of the Club World Cup

Carlo Ancelotti has come under the scanner for Real Madrida s recent performances. Though the Italian led the club to an impressive 22 game winning streak which included winning the Club World Cup, the club saw a dip in form in 2015 as it lost its lead in the La Liga. With ten games to go, Real Madrid are currently on the second spot, trailing arch rivals Barcelona by 4 points. The Los Blancos also suffered a humiliating defeat against Schalke as they lost the return leg of the tie 3-4 at Santiago Bernabeu, barely making it to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Already out of the Copa del Rey, Ancelotti will be keen to regain the top spot in the league as they face city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, a side they havena t been able to beat this season. Speaking about his future, Ancelotti claimed that he could see himself return to AC Milan one day.

“Milan are the only side I’d like to return to. I’ve been a manager for 20 years and in all of them I’ve wondered where I’d be come August. But there is no change in my situation at present.a

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Carlo Ancelotti. Recently, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that Ancelotti was a victim of the Presidential elections at Real Madrid while suggesting that the Italian was one of the toughest opponents in his career. So will Real Madrid sack Ancelotti and promote a certain Zinedine Zidane as his replacement? We shall find out come August.
