Falcao Feels Free And Confident, Insists No Pressure At Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC’s latest loan-signing Radamel Falcao has insisted that he does not feel the same pressure to score goals with his new club as he did with former club Manchester United.

The 29-year-old striker joined The Blues on loan from Monaco after an unsuccessful spell with rivals Manchester United last season, where he scored only 4 goals in 26 games. The misfiring Colombian has seen his lethal goal-scoring form elude him since he suffered a serious knee injury prior to the 2014 World Cup, while playing in the Ligue 1 with Monaco.

Falcao was considered one of the deadliest strikers in world football when he made his a 60 million switch from Spanish side Atletico Madrid to big-spending French side Monaco.

I don’t feel pressure to score – Radamel Falcao

The 29-year-old made his competitive debut for Chelsea FC in the 1-0 loss to Arsenal FC in the Community Shield. However, Falcao insists that he doesn’t feel the pressure to score at his new club, who already have renowned striker like Diego Costa and Loic Remy in their ranks.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, as quoted by ESPNFC, he said:

“I feel very well, free and with a lot of confidence. I don’t feel pressure to score.

“Strikers always want to score goals, clearly, but I’m calm. The goals will come and we have great strikers in this team.

“Diego Costa and Loic Remy are excellent finishers. We hope to have healthy competition and, after that, the coach will decide.

“The more games we play the more the team will grow and we will be ready to fight this season.”

Will Jose Mourinho help Falcao regain his lost confidence?

Falcao had an unreal goal-scoring record at FC Porto and Atletico Madrid, where he scored 72 goals from 87 games and 70 goals from 91 games respectively. However, since the knee injury which ruled him out of the World Cup, the striker has scored 6 goals in 33 competitive fixture for three different clubs.

The striker looks bereft of form and confidence, and Blues manager Jose Mourinho has vowed to help the Colombian get back to his best, something at which his mentor Louis Van Gaal failed last year.

.

Chelsea FC begin their title defence against Swansea City at Stamford Bridge this weekend and Falcao is set to play a key role if the Blues want to be successful in keeping the title at Stamford Bridge.
