PSV Defender Says His Team Will ‘Eat Messi, Suarez, Neymar For Breakfast’, Wants To Face FC Barcelona In Knockout Rounds

PSV Eindhoven might have done brilliantly to pip Manchester United to the second spot in Group B on Matchday 6, but their defender Joshua Brenet seems to be exuding a bit too much confidence, as he said that his side would “eat Messi, SuA?rez and Neymar for breakfast”, if they met FC Barcelona in the Round of 16.

This might have been meant as a joke by the 21-year-old fullback, but one cannot help but wonder how the Dutch side would manage to stop the on-song FC Barcelona attacking trio.

“All of the clubs [in the draw] are big ones, but I’m a huge fan of Barcelona,” said Brenet to Daily Mirror. “It would great to play against them, if not in this round then the one after that, in the semi-finals or in the final.

“We’ll eat Messi, Neymar and SuA?rez for breakfast,” he went on to say.

PSV need to improve league position

.

While the Dutch side have done brilliantly to qualify for the Round of 16 stage of the Champions League, they need to do better on the domestic front heading into the winter break.

PSV currently lie third on the Eredivisie table, four points behind toppers Ajax, and one behind second-placed Feyenoord. However, they need to improve their position, if they want to be assured of a spot in next year’s Champions League.

FC Barcelona are no Manchester United

Not every season can one dare to write the above words in that exact sequence, but that is clearly the case now with the Red Devils struggling in front of goal.

FC Barcelona on the other hand, have been scoring at will thanks to the Messi-Suarez-Neymar combination. The team scoring 11 goals in their last four matches in all competitions. This makes Brenet’s comment sound a bit incredulous, although it might just have been meant as a joke.
