Liverpool Working On Danny Ings Deal Before Window Shuts

Liverpool FC are pushing to get Burnley striker Danny Ings before the winter window shuts later tonight.

Reports broke out a few days before about the Merseysiders being interested in the England U 21 player. There were talks of the Reds buying the player for around 4million pounds, and then loaning him back to Burnley for the rest of the season, which made perfect sense for all three parties.

These reports prompted the Burnley officials to release a statement which claimed that it would be against the Premier League rules for such a deal to happen as loaning back immediately violates them.

There have been false rumors since that Ings has signed a pre-contract with David Moyes’ Real Sociedad. It is now reported that Liverpool chiefs negotiating with the Clarets to avoid the need to go to a tribunal in the summer. The 22 year old would stay at Burnley for the rest of the season if an agreement between the two clubs can be reached. Burnley will due compensation for Ings when his contract expires at the end of the campaign. According to Liverpool ECHO, Liverpool hope to beat off competition from rival clubs by sorting out a fee for the summer now rather than waiting for a compensation figure to be agreed by a tribunal.

It has also been mentioned in reports over and over that Ings, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Real Sociedad, Chelsea and Manchester City, is keen on a move to Anfield next season.

Ings started his career in the youth ranks at Southampton, before moving to Bournemouth. He made his first-team debut in 2009 and scored eight goals in 30 appearances for the Cherries. He moved to Burnley in August 2011, for a sum believed to be in the region of around A?1million. He has scored 39 times in 114 matches for the Clarets. It is not understating when saying he was a key part of why Burnley got promoted as last season, he scored 21 goals in the Championship for the side and won the Championship Player of the Year award. He has scored four goals in seven appearances for England U-21 side, and if he continues his goal scoring form, he is surely going to get a senior call-up very soon.

Getting Ings right now wouldn’t make sense for all three parties as the return of Sturridge would mean that is reinstated in the starting 11 and Brendan Rodgersa 3-4-2-1 formation which has worked well only requires one striker. In the absence of the England international. Raheem Sterling has led the line for the Reds. Therefore Ings wona t even get enough game time, something he requires at his age. Moreover, Burnley need him to ensure they are safe by the end of the season and in the summer, they can look for other striking options.
