Liverpool FC are ready to pounce on Manchester United outcast Javier Hernandez this summer, suggest reports

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a bid for United’s on-loan star Javier Hernandez, suggest reports in the Express.

The striker was loaned out to European champions Real Madrid last summer after Louis van Gaal took over and thought his services weren’t needed at the Manchester club. The addition of Falcao meant that the 20 time champions thought they had got a great upgrade on the Mexican forward, but Falcao is yet to prove his big name at Old Trafford this season.

Hernandez must have felt incredibly pleased to move to the European giants but his time with Los Blancos hasn’t been very productive. Even then, he has delivered admirably whenever called upon. The 26 year old has three goals in 270 minutes of La Liga football, which isn’t a bad ratio to have. However, the presence of Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema makes chances to come very hard by. Real Madrid have a star-studded squad so it isn’t surprising how little football action Chicharito has got this season.

Now reports suggest that Liverpool are ready to make a A?14 million for Hernandez in the summer to bring him to Merseyside next season. Brendan Rodgers’ side is visibly lacking in firepower and the lack of goals is costing them dearly at the moment. Daniel Sturridge has spent large amount of time on the sidelines with injury and hasn’t looked great since coming back in. Mario Balotelli has not been the addition the club had hoped he were and Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have only been used as fringe players.

Therefore the Reds definitely do need additions in the strike department next season but it is surprising for them to be linked with Hernandez given the rivalry Liverpool and Manchester United share. While Hernandez is a good striker with a great poaching sense, it is difficult to imagine him playing in Liverpool colours next season simply because the Reds and the Red Devils don’t do much direct transfer business.

Hernandez has also interested MLS side Orlando City, but it has been reported that the player will turn the offer down as he wishes to continue playing in Europe.

However, if the emotions are set aside, Manchester United would consider a bid in the region of A?14 million good and will be tempted to cash in on a player they no longer require in the summer. Louis van Gaal is certain to add a striker in the summer and it is likely that he will go for the top strikers in world football given that United don’t have money to worry about.
