Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho has played down his unbeaten record against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal FC. The two clubs meet on Sunday in the Community Shield at the Wembley Arena.
The Portuguese has not lost to Arsene Wenger in 13 outings with Chelsea FC, however, the 52-year-old refused to be affected by the head-to-head stats with Wenger. Mourinho had earlier suggested that if the Frenchman’s spending over the last two or three years was calculated, it would reveal a ‘surprise’ or two.

“I just want my teams, my clubs to try to get the best possible results. That’s the only thing that matters.” Mourinho said in a pre-match press conference for the upcoming Community Shield, as reported by Sky Sports.
“Doesn’t matter Arsenal, doesn’t matter the manager. In football you can win or lose or draw. In this case you have to be ready for everything.”
“I never made my victories over Arsenal an explosion of happiness or special pride. I will not make a drama if one day we lose.”
“But we always try to play for a result and the Community Shield has a motivation, obviously different than just a friendly or just a summer tournament. I would say it’s the start of the competition.”
Arsenal FC have signed veteran goal-keeper Petr Cech from Chelsea FC earlier this summer and the 33-year-old is set to face his former club on Sunday. Cech left Stamford Bridge after 11 successful years with the Blues, which saw him lift the Champions League in 2012. Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich sanctioned the sale of the Czech international after he requested for a move. Petr Cech had fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Thibaut Courtois, who was earlier loaned out to Atletico Madrid.
Mourinho rejected the notion that the Gunners were weak in the goal-keeping department prior to the arrival of Cech. When quizzed about the possibility of facing his former No. 1, the Portuguese said:
“I did it already. Inter against Chelsea. No problem.”
“I don’t agree with you,” he added. a I never felt weaknesses in their goalkeepers.”
Can Wenger secure his first win against Mourinho on Sunday?
The Blues have lost only one of their pre-season fixtures against New York Red Bulls, while winning the remaining two courtesy of penalty shoot-outs. However, the club have not yet hit top-form and have struggled to get going ahead of the upcoming season. The Gunners on the contrary have had an excellent pre-season, winning all of their games and have been breath-taking with their fluid passing at times. Sunday promises to be a cracker of a season opener between the two teams with Wenger looking to claim his first victory over Mourinho.
