John Terry Considers Gary Cahill As ‘England’s Best Centre Back’

Chelsea centre-back John Terry has opined that his team-mate Gary Cahill is currently the best defender in the country.

The English defender, who has been inducted in this yeara s PFA Team of the Year alongside John Terry, had a fantastic season for the Premier League leaders. Gary Cahill had a poor start to the season and was under threat of losing his first team position to young defender Kurt Zouma. But as the season progressed, the 29-year-old drastically improved and formed a formidable defense line alongside club legend John Terry.

When Terry was asked about the best English centre-back currently he said, “Gary is a big character. He was obviously disappointed to be left out of the Chelsea side a few months ago, but he has come back and taken his chance again.

“He has been different class and is England’s best centre back. For me, he has been brilliant all season long.

“The manager has taken him out and stuff, but for me he has been playing at a very high level. In the big games, he has a lot of experience and he steps up to the plate.”

Gary Cahill has several competitions in the English national team. The likes of Phil Jones, Phil Jagielka and Chris Smalling are all in contention for the national team spot, but according to Terry, Roy Hodgson must not have any doubt regarding Gary Cahilla s selection in the England football team
