Javier Hernandez Set To Return To Manchester United After Real Madrid Release The Striker

According to reports in Spain, La Liga giants Real Madrid are all set to send back on-loan striker Javier Hernandez to Manchester United in the coming season. Madrid had procured ‘Chicharito’s’ services on the transfer deadline, last summer from the Red Devils.

Javier Hernandez initially did not feature in many games in the first half of the season. He was only considered by Carlo Ancelotti after French striker Karim Benzema was ruled out due to an injury. Hernandez played a total of 23 matches in the La Liga this season out of which just 7 were first-team appearances. The Mexican international managed to score only 7 goals in the entire season.

Carlo Ancelotti wanted a striker who could replace Benzema whenever required after Alvaro Morata left. After spending heavily last summer, Madrid only had the option to recruit a player on loan. Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal happily handed over Javier Hernandez to the Spanish side as he had an array of quality forwards in his squad.

It has been an average season for the striker, who did not get much game time during his loan stint. He only came into prominence in the latter half of the season. Hernandez scored the all-important goal against rivals Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg which helped his team to qualify for the semi-finals.

Javier Hernandez can be utilised properly this time around by Louis van Gaal at Manchester United. Except for Wayne Rooney, none of the other strikers were up to the mark. Both Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao had a terrible season compared to their standards. The Colombian international will be released by the club who was on loan from AS Monaco. Javier Hernandez, with all his experience from Real Madrid, can prove to be a handy cover for Wayne Rooney upfront.
