A lot of people have come out in support of struggling Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho, but former Blues striker Adrian Mutu is not one of them. The Romanian slammed Mourinho for his manegerial style, terming him as “fake”.
The Blues have been struggling of late, suffering their eighth defeat in 15 Premier League games, at the hands of relegation strugglers Bournemouth. However, while the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson came out in support of Mourinho, Mutu seems to have taken quite the opposite stance.
a He has been a great coach in the past, but as a person, he is fake,” said Mutu to The Daily Mirror. a He only looks after himself, and has no consideration for how his players are feeling and thinking. You could not go and talk to him.
a As a coach, he is finished. There is no way back for him. How do you come back from something like this [current form]?
Mutu also went on to say that Mourinho does not have any consideration for the players who are playing under him and that he takes the first opportunity to rile-up the best player in his squad.
a You can see now how many of his players look unhappy. Why? He is the reason,a he said. a He cannot talk to players like they should be spoken to.
a The first thing he does is he goes to the biggest player in his team, and tries to make him angry,” Mutu continued. a No matter who it was, John Terry, Frank Lampard, it is just what he does for fun. That was just his way of doing things, and he wona t change for anyone.a
However, it is hardly a surprise that the Romanian striker has such sharp words for Mourinho, as he had a tumultuous relationship with the Portuguese manager, back when he had signed for Chelsea FC in 2003. Subsequently, his tenure at the club was not very long as his contract was terminated after Mutu tested positive in a surprise drug test.
Mutu goes on to say that he resents the decision of Chelsea FC, as he had expected the club to help him through the rehabilitation process.
Mutu looking for other opportunities after good showing at ISL
The 36-year-old has had a decent outing in the Indian Super League (ISL), although his team, FC Pune City’s run in the tournament was cut short after they failed to finish in the semi-final playoff spots (top-four), in the league stage of the competition.
With the January transfer window approaching, the Romanian is now on the lookout for opportunities elsewhere, and believes his short stint at the ISL has helped him get back to full fitness.
a I have enjoyed my time in India and my fitness has improved,a Mutu said. a We will see what the future holds, but I would definitely be open to a return to the ISL.a
