Danny Ings has turned down a move to La Liga’s Real Sociedad as his heart is set on joining Liverpool this summer when his contract with Burnley expires.
Having flown to Spain this month to discuss terms with David Moyes’ side, the 22-year-old was offered a deal worth A?60,000 per week and a lucrative signing on fee along with assurances of further British players joining Sociedad.
Ings was told that he would have been the team’s main player if he joined them at the San Sebastian but it seems that the striker has his heart set on a move to Anfield at the end of the season.
Along with Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been linked with a move to the Burnley forward who has scored nine goals and assisted four more so far this season in the Premier League.
The Reds made a move to land Ings in the January transfer window but Burnley needed him in their fight for survival this season, resigned themselves to losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
If a move to Liverpool does transpire, it would suit the Clarets as they will have to pay a fee of around A?6 million in compensation whereas Real Sociedad would have had to pay just the A?300,000.
Ings was guiding Burnley to top flight football last season with 21 goals and his manager Sean Dyche believes that his development would be aided if he stayed in the country.
