Chelsea FC Transfer News: Hiddink Looking To Bring Jackson Martinez To Stamford Bridge?

With all their problems up front, Chelsea FC seem to have turned to Atletico Madrid for a possible signing of Colombian striker Jackson Martinez.

Martinez has been in woeful form ever since moving to the Spanish capital from FC Porto, scoring just three goals this season. This seems to have prompted Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to look for a replacement for the Colombian, and it can happen as soon as January with the Blues going for a loan move, according to the Daily Mirror.

While Diego Costa’s form has not been something to look forward to, Chelsea FC’s loan striker Radamel Falcao has also been disappointing, and is expected to be sent back to AS Monaco when the transfer window opens next month. French frontman Loic Remy has also not been finding regular action at the club.

Tottenham Hotspur in the race too

Meanwhile reports also suggest that Chelsea FC’s cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also trying to sign Martinez, if Atletico Madrid would be willing to sell him.

.

While there have been no reports of the whether Simeone wants to sell him or send him out on loan, a move to Tottenham Hotspur could see the Colombian getting more game time, in spite of having to play second fiddle to Harry Kane.

An expensive signing

Atletico Madrid had paid around the A?29 million for Martinez, and are not expected to let him go easily. While the Colombian’s value has decreased due to his recent performances, Tottenham would probably need to shell out around A?22 million for his services, according to Transfermarkt.com. That seems to be a bit too expensive for a 29-year-old striker, who is expected to play second fiddle.
