Chelsea FC open to Juan Cuadrado sale; Mourinho confirms Salah will leave

The Colombian winger has spent a frustrating six months in England following his January transfer from Fiorentina this year, and it appears Chelsea FC are not keen on prolonging the 27-year-old’s stay either. Meanwhile, Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah will definitely leave the club this summer.

Juan Cuadrado struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League and had little impact on the Chelsea FC first team, despite being expected to challenge Willian for a place on the Blues’ right wing. Consequently, it would seem Jos Mourinho is open to selling the Colombian at the right price. Former Basel winger Mohamed Salah, meanwhile, will definitely end his brief spell at Stamford Bridge as he looks to secure a move away this summer.

Chelsea FC willing to consider Cuadrado sale

According to the reputable English newspaper The Guardian, Chelsea FC are willing to sell the former Fiorentina winger if a club is willing to meet their valuation of the player. The report claims that Cuadrado himself is looking to secure a move away, with Italian giants Juventus reportedly interested in signing the winger.

Any potential suitors would allegedly have to cough up close to the A?26.1 million that the Blues paid for the Colombian, however, as Mourinho would not be willing to accept a loss on a player that has been at the club for just six months.

Salah on his way out

There is no ambiguity, meanwhile, about the future of 23-year-old winger Mohamed Salah, who will depart Chelsea FC this summer – most likely to return to the Serie A where he spent an extremely fruitful half-season at Fiorentina.

Speaking to the media at Chelsea’s pre-season training base in Montreal, Mourinho is quoted by The Guardian as saying, “I see Salaha s future elsewhere, either as a loan or an offer that we are happy to accept.

“At the moment, with Hazard and Willian, Traor , Moses and Cuadrado, we have five players for these positions. It is better not to have so many.”

The comments suggest that there is likely to be a place in the first-team squad next season for Nigerian international Victor Moses , as well as promising Burkina Faso youngster Bertrand Traor , who had a breakthrough season on loan at Dutch feeder club Vitesse Arnhem this year.

Cuadrado sale difficult – unlikely to be wrapped up quickly

Chelsea FC have shown in the past couple of seasons in particular that they are willing to sell good players if the price is right, and if the player himself agitates for the move. That is likely to be the policy the club will use to deal with Cuadrado’s current situation.

Any potential move away from Stamford Bridge hinges entirely on those two factors, and as such, Juventus or any other club would have to be willing to part ways with a significant amount of money (the best part of A?30 million) if they wish to sign Cuadrado – a relatively unlikely eventuality.

If the Colombian is sold, Mourinho would also have to look for a replacement, and with Manchester United leading the race to sign Pedro, identifying a suitable player and subsequently signing him will not be a quick process.

Cuadrado’s future – at least until January – could well be alongside his compatriot Radamel Falcao with the Premier League champions.
