Atletico Set To Rival Liverpool And Roma For PSG Defender Digne

Atletico Madrid are set to rival Liverpool FC and AS Roma . in the race to sign PSG left back Lucas Digne.

When Lucas Digne arrived at PSG from Lille, he was heralded as the future of the Paris based club, two years down the line and that future is yet to arrive. The 21-year-old is widely considered to be one of the best young talents in France, but the defender has been unable to grab a regular place in the starting line-up.

The French international made just 14 starts in the league last season as manager Laurent Blanc seems to prefer the experience of Maxwell. Both Liverpool and Roma have been monitoring Dignea s situation at PSG, although they are yet to make any official offer for the defender.

Liverpool have made a positive start to this transfer window and have already completed the signing of a number of key players. After landing Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton, the Merseyside club are now looking to strengthen the left side of their defence. Brendan Rodgers does have Jose Enrique and Alberto Moreno at his disposal for the left back spot, but the former is expected to depart from Anfield this summer.

Roma meanwhile are reportedly looking for Ashley Colea s replacement, both in long term, or in case the rumours of Cole leaving Italy, to return to England, comes true.

French media Le Parisien are now claiming that Atletico Madrid have decided to rival Liverpool and Roma in the race to sign the Frenchman. The Spanish clubs have been in contact with PSG and have enquired about his availability.

PSG are believed to have set a a 15 million price tag on Digne, whose current contract with the club runs till 2018. The Ligue 1 championsa demands seemed to have deterred Roma and Liverpool till now, but with Atletico looking to submit an offer for the defender, we could be set for a transfer battle for Dignea s future. Atletico of course are also waiting on Chelseaa s reported offer to re-sign Filipe Luis, as a part of deal which could see Arda Turan head to Stamford Bridge.
