Analysis: Manchester City Scores 6 Goals Against Queens Park Rangers As They Bow Out Of Premier League With Humiliation

Manchester City FC rout Queens Park Rangers 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. A hat-trick from Citya s Argentine goal machine Sergio Aguero and goals from Aleksandar Kolarov, James Milner and David Silva sealed the fate of the match in their favour.

Queens Park Rangers missed several first team players in this crucial match against Premier League giants Manchester City. Most of their first choice defenders were out of action due to injuries. Thus, a disaster was evitable. Sergio Aguero scored the opening goal as early as in the 4th minute. He entered the penalty box with a solo effort and lobbed it over Robert Green.

The Cityzens attacked in numbers after the goal and were dominant in the opponenta s half. Chris Ramseya s men desperately defended to stop the continuous attacks. The London club could have pulled one back as Charlie Austin got an opportunity. He headed in the ball from a cross which came from the left flank into the net. Joe Hart did not reach anywhere near the ball but fortunately for City, the linesman signaled offside.

Around the half hour mark, City won a free-kick as Richard Dunne pushed Sergio Aguero outside the box. Aleksandar Kolarov took the set-piece and curled a wonderful shot which found the back of the net. Robert Green failed to save it as the score line displayed 2-0 in favour of the home side.

Manchester City continued to terrorize the Queens Park Rangers defenders with a series of attacks. The tactics of 3-5-2 did not help Ramseya s cause as City took that in their favour. Somehow the home team did not score any more goals in the first half.

Manchester City made it 3-0 within 5 minutes of the new half. The move was created by Pablo Zabaleta who blocked an opponenta s attack and forwarded it towards David Silva. The Spaniard edged past South Korean defender Yun and passed it towards Aguero who easily found the back of the net.

15 minutes later the Cityzens won a penalty as Matt Phillips clumsily pushed David Silva inside the 18 yards box. Sergio Aguero completed a wonderful hat-trick from the spot.

The fifth goal came in another five minutes. This time Wilfried Bony took a corner which was received by Aguero at the near post. He wisely passed it towards James Milner who had to just push the ball into the net. Yaya Toure came in as a substitute late in the second half which enhanced Citya s midfield even more. They got a number of chances to increase their lead further but were unlucky not to score. Also, Wilfried Bonya s inclusion in place of Frank Lampard proved to be a great move by Manuel Pellegrini as Bony and Aguero did a great job in the upfront.

The final nail was hammered by David Silva who received a back heel pass from Wilfried Bony. Silva dribbled Green and completed half a dozen goals for his team in the match.

Queens Park Rangersa relegation is evitable now as they move down to the rock bottom position in the league table. Even full points from their last two matches will not be enough to save their campaign. Manchester City, on the other hand, are at the second position now with 73 points in 36 matches. They have pretty much secured a top three finish in this season. After a dismal performance in the previous months, City have regained momentum and have now won 4 games in a row in a convincing fashion.
