Egypt coach Shawky Gharib has blamed Mohamed Salahai??i??s lack of opportunity at Chelsea FC for the wingerai??i??s lack of fitness.
Mohamed Salah has become a forgotten man since his move to Chelsea and Egypt coach Shawky Gharib has expressed his concern about his lack of opportunity, and fitness, following their 2-0 defeat against Senegal at the African Cup Of Nations qualifying match.
Mohamed Salah joined Chelsea in the Winter transfer window last season after making a name for himself at FC Basel. But the 22-year-old has made only 11 appearances for the London club since his move, with most of them coming as a substitute.
Salah is currently way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge with Jose Mourinho favouring the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Andre Schurrle over him. Following the arrival of Cesc Fabregas this summer, the competition for a place in the attacking triumvirate behind Diego Costa has increased a lot and it seems unlikely that the Egyptian winger will get a lot of opportunity, especially in the League or European matches.
Lack of first team action is affecting his fitness and confidence, which was apparent during Egyptai??i??s loss against Senegal. Salah is an important part of Shawky Gharibai??i??s squad and he has expressed his concern about Salahai??i??s current status at Stamford Bridge. Gharib insisted that Salah lack of fitness is affecting the teamai??i??s performance.
“We had many mistakes in passing the ball and we failed to put the required pressure on our opponents but the defenders are not the only ones to be blamed.
“The poor fitness of the players, especially Chelseaai??i??s Mohamed Salah, is also a reason for the loss.
“The Egyptian league hasn’t started yet and also Salah didnai??i??t play regularly with Chelsea. If Salah is off-form, Egypt’s performance is always affected.” ai??i?? Shawky Gharib said in an interview.
Salah is yet to make any appearance from the bench this season and his best hope of gaining a place in the starting line-up is likely to arrive in the FA Cup or League Cup.
