Manchester City’s gaffer Manuel Pellegrini expects to catch Chelsea before the end of the season. As the scenario stands, Manchester City are six points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and face a home game to high flying Swansea City on Saturday. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Pellegrini expressed his views on Chelsea, Swansea City and the road ahead for Manchester City, he said.
“”Of course Chelsea can be caught,We still have to play 27 games more in the Premier League and that is a lot of points to fight for. When the mathematics suggests you can do it, then all the teams can still do it.
“I think the last week of November and the month of December is always a decisive time in the Premier League. Chelsea are in a good moment but to make sure we have had a good first half to the season we need to have more than 41 or 42 points by the end of the year.”
Although Vincent Kompany has been declared fit, Spanish International David Silva is set to miss the match, alongside Edin Dzeko and Alexsander Kolarov.
“David still feels some pain in his knee, so he’s not able to kick the ball.
“We’ll see if next week he can be ready at the end of the week. It will depend on the way he improves in the next few days.He still feels a little pain, but not very hard so I hope in the next week we have good news about David.”
Manchester City, will face a daunting to Bayern Munich days later after their encounter with Swansea City. Meanwhile, a high flying Swansea City would look to inflict more worries on City’s form. Leon Britton expressed his desire to combat Manchester City’s Yaya Toure.
“Certain players suit going to the gym. I don’t think I’m one of them. Normally I’m a player that relies on getting on the ball and moving it around quickly rather than trying to hold off Yaya Toure.” said Britton
“But I’ve got bigger muscles than I’ve ever had after all the work I did in the gym. It was frustrating, every day it was the same for months. I worked on the exercise bike for half an hour, then we went in to doing weights.
“After that there were further exercises to strengthen your muscles and your core. But I am glad to be back, because at one stage I was wondering if I would play this season. My campaign starts now and I am chomping at the bit.”
Manchester City would be looking to exorcise their demons, as the Citizens have been a mere shadow of their former self.
