Fernando Torres is unwanted everywhere it seems. Chelsea signed the Spaniard for a whopping A?50m fee back in 2011. After three and a half seasons at the London club, the Blues loaned the striker to Italian side AC Milan in the summer, for two years. After scoring a good goal on him Milan debut, Torres, who was once one of the best strikers in football, has failed to register a single goal for the Italian side. Rumors suggest Milan no longer want to keep the former Liverpool player and are ready to cut their deal short and terminate the loan contract.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was asked if the player would be taken back, but the Portuguese insisted there was no space at the club for the current Milan player.
“No,” [Mourinho] said, before being asked whether it was true that Milan are seeking to end the deal.
“I don’t know but he’s on loan for two seasons at AC Milan. He’s our player but he’s on loan. We have no space for players in the list. Either in the Champions League or Premier League. That’s an impossible picture.”
“But I have to say, nobody from AC Milan made contact with us thinking about that possibility, so probably nothing is true and, more than possibly, he’s happy at Milan and Milan to have him.”
Reports suggest former clubs Atletico Madrid and Liverpool are looking at bringing the 30 year old back, now that he is surplus to demands, pretty much everywhere.
The Spain international came through Atleticoai??i??s academy, and eventually went on to captain the side at just 19 years of age. He played alongside present manager Diego Simeone at the club, and rumors on several occasions this year have suggested that Simeone is inclined to bring Torres back to Caledrone and trusts the player to fire for his boyhood side.
Reports also link Torres with a return to Liverpool– the club where he actually became one of Europeai??i??s top 3 strikers. The Spaniard spent three and a half seasons with the Reds and went on to score 81 goals in all competitions for the Merseysiders.
While Liverpool are struggling for goals greatly in the absence of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, the arrival of Torres is unlikely to get things back to good days, so these reports can be dismissed as audacious rumors that crop up everytime near the transfer window. As for Atletico Madrid, the Spanish side currently has attacking options that are doing well and it seems unlikely that Simeone would get Torres back in the winter, even though emotional decisions might be involved for either clubs if a transfer were to happen.
