Norwegian prodigy Martin Odegaard admits Liverpool are his ai???dream clubai??i?? but that will not influence any decision on his future.
Emerging Norwegian talent Odegaard admitted that he is an ardent Reds fan but reiterated the fact that it will not affect his decision making when he decides to leave Norway next season. “Liverpool have always been my dream club,ai??i?? Odegaard told German newspaper Sport Bild in a recent interview.
“But I will not let this affect my decision when I choose a new club.”
“Itai??i??s all about finding the team that is best for me and for my development. That is not necessarily Liverpool.”
“I havenai??i??t really thought about my future yet. I will end the season here and then visit a number of clubs. I have not made a final decision yet, though.
“Of course, itai??i??s flattering when you hear that big clubs are after you, but I donai??i??t think about it too often.”
Odegaard will visit Liverpoolai??i??s Melwood training complex next month but this privilege isnai??i??t exclusive to Liverpool only as the Norwegian is reported to have already trained with the youth teams of German sides Bayern Munich and Stuttgart and later visited the Real Madrid camp. The player himself admitted to have had his interest aroused by the German Champions.
“They won the Champions League recently, so they’re the best club in the world,” said Odegaard in a recent TV 2 documentary. “They play good football, with lots of good players.”
Currently representing Stromsgodset in the Norwegian Tippeligaen, Odegaard has scored five goals in 23 appearances this season. This includes a brace in the 2-1 win over Lillestrom, cementing Stromsgodset’s fourth-place position in a league currently dominated by Molde.
Odegaard is both the youngest player and scorer to feature in the Norwegian top flight. He is also the country’s youngest international and is destined to be a key player over the coming years. Martin Odegaard, just 15 years-old, became the youngest player to play a European Qualifier when he came off the bench in Norwayai??i??s 2-1 win over Bulgaria last month.
Current Celtic manager Ronny Deila handed Odegaard his first team debut against Sarpsborg back in April. Deila claims the youngster can ai???become the best in the worldai??i??. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was reluctant to talk about the possibility of signing Odegaard but praised the qualities of the teenager.
“I know heai??i??s a big talent, at that age to be playing senior football at 15 and in a competitive league,” said the Liverpool boss. “Heai??i??s got wonderful ability and wonderful talent, but thereai??i??s nothing much more to say on him.”
