Liverpool and Manchester United were keeping tabs on German midfielder Christoph Kramer who is currentlyAi??on loan at Borussia MAi??nchengladbachAi??from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to German newspaper Bild, the Borussia MAi??nchengladbachAi??midfielder was approached by several clubs during the transfer window, but the Bundesliga side rejected all enquiries. The interested clubs include English Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool, Italian club Juventus and last season’s La Liga winners Atletico Madrid.
Further reports in the paper claimed that both Liverpool and United were set toAi??bid A?12m forAi??Ai??Christoph Kramer in January. ButAi??now Moenchengladbach are hoping to make that deal permanent by offering Kramer’s parent club,Ai??Bayer Leverkusen, A?12m for the midfielder in January.
The 23 year old joined local club BV Graefrath in 1995. Just four years later, at the age of nine, he was picked up by Bayer Leverkusen’s youth program. Funnily enough,Ai??despite being recognized so early, his short stature led him to be cut from Leverkusen’s youth squad at the age of 15. He spent the next two seasons (2006-08) with Fortuna Duesseldorf and in the time, he grew taller by almost a foot! He was then recalled to Bayer Leverkusen by Sascha Lewandowski, who was at the time in charge of their under-19 team. The midfielder earned his promotion to the senior side in 2011. Immediately, he was sent out on loan to VfL Bochum, playing in the second division, for two years.

His sustained high quality performances earned him a spot inAi??Joachim LAi??w’s World Cup winning side. Due to an injury to Sami Khedira,Ai??Kramer was named in the starting 11 for the World Cup minutes before kick off. However, heAi??lasted just 32 minutes after suffering from a concussion.
Liverpool acquired the services of Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. Can incidentally was ahead of Kramer in the pecking order in Bayer’s team which is why the latter was loaned out. Manchester Untied have invested heavily this summer and are expected to splurge more in the winter. They’re targeting Kevin Strootman and Arturo Vidal. Hence it seems unlikely that the two English clubs will fight hard withAi??MAi??nchengladbach for Kramer’s signature.
