It seems that Barcelona management has made up their mind to sack Tata Martino as they have reportedly made an initial contact with the agent of AS Roma coach Rudi Garcia.
Italian website Ilmessagerro.it has reported today that Tata Martino is increasingly speculated as on his way out of the Camp Nou in the summer and the Catalans have Garcia as their first choice replacement.
The Frenchman has impressed in his debut campaign with the Lupi, leading the club to automatic Champions League qualification. The 50-year-old may end the season without a trophy, but it has been a historic campaign for the Giallorossi. With 79 points from 33 games, and only two losses, no Roma team in history has obtained this many points at this stage of the season.
Roma were one of the great underperformers in Italy last season, finishing sixth and therefore out of the European berths amid a flurry of goals inspired by Zdenek Zeman’s gung-ho nature and then, once the veteran Czech had been sacked in February, interim boss Aurelio Andreazzoli’s more measured approach.
The capital outfit will only be denied the Scudetto by a Juventus squad who have themselves embarked on an historic run – winning 28 of their 33 matches.
Whilst he has one season remaining on his current deal at the Olimpico, Roma are seen as ready to open talks on improving and extending that contract.
However,Ai??on from reports yesterday suggesting Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring his work with an eye to a move this summer to replace Laurent Blanc,Ai??Il Messaggero report that Barcelona are also similarly considering the 50-year-old.
It is suggested that Roma have been aware of this interest for at least a week and that even in early March Barca approached Garciaai??i??s agent over a possible move.
However, Il Messaggero also report that despite this interest, the Coachai??i??s representative is expected to open contract renewal talks with the Giallorossi, with a new deal targeted before the end of May, when the club depart for an end-of-season tour to Orlando.
On 12 June 2013, Roma’s presidentAi??James PallottaAi??announced that GarcAi??a had been appointed the new manager ofAi??A.S. Roma,Ai??news that were initially received very cautiously by Roma fans. But the Frenchman quickly outlined an ambitious plan for Roma, promising expansive, exciting football with the ultimate aim of an ambitious top-three finish.
“Now the important thing is that we get back into Europe ai??i?? if that is through the biggest door [the Champions League] then that would be better,” he explained when presented in mid-June.
“I am afraid of nothing and I’m here to win with a side that enjoys playing football and entertaining the fans.”
Such entertaining game of his Roma has won Garcia many fans in Europe and Barcelona are now his potential employers.

Barcelona management is now almost certain of parting way with Tata Martino at the end of the campaign but it would take serious amount of money to persuade Roma management to allow Garcia to leave.
