Chelsea have not only made some big and important signings this summer, but they have also managed to balance the book by getting rid of some players. Moreover, they have also conducted their business early in the transfer window, allowing the squad to settle down in preseason.
Their biggest requirement this summer was to sign a new striker, having struggled for goals last season. The Blues signed Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and brought back Didier Drogba on a one year contract, while the Samuel Etoai??i??o, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku were sold to make way for them.
Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas was another big name signing and his arrival has added a lot more creativity in attack, especially with Oscar struggling with his form in the World Cup. He will step into the shoes of Frank Lampard, who left the club this summer.
Left back Ashley Cole, who joined Roma, was replaced by Felipe Luis, who was a vital member of the title wining squad of Atletico last season, while the transfer of David Luiz, for an astronomical fee, to PSG means the Blues are actually running on green in this window, despite all the arrivals.
