Father of highly rated Croatian youngster Tonci Mujan, who has been linked with Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur, has confirmed interest from various Premier League clubs.
Tonci Mujan is widely considered as one of the best young talents in Croatiaai??i??s youth ranks at the moment. The 18-year-old started his career at Hajduk Splitai??i??s academy and was promoted to the first team at the age of 17. Although he is yet to grab a regular spot in the line-up, his talent is there for everyone to see.
He is progressed through to the Croatian U-18 side and is expected to receive a call-up for the nation side in near future. He plays mostly as a left sided forward for Hajduk Split as a part of the front three, but he is versatile enough to play both as a striker and as a left winger.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the youngster and amid all these interests, his father has revealed that a number of English clubs are interested in him. He also insisted that Liverpool contacted them few years ago, but maintained that Mujan is likely to stay at Croatia presently in order to develop as a footballer before venturing into foreign shores.
“I must admit a number of clubs are interested in Tonci. Some years ago he got a call to come to Liverpool, but he stayed.
“Now there are more clubs from England who want him, and also from Italy.
“But for now he wants to stay at Hajduk and become an even better player. But then again we have to see what kind of plans his club has for him.” ai??i?? Mujanai??i??s father said in an interview.
It is perhaps refreshing to see an youngster who isnai??i??t in a hurry to make it big and is being guided by people who insist on developing him as a footballer before he moves out of his country ai??i?? something which is rare these days.
