Ashley Cole Could Leave Chelsea FC In The Summer

Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that Ashley Cole can possibly leave the club at the end of this season to join New York Red Bulls.

Ashley Cole has fallen out of favour at Chelsea this season under the Jose Mourinho. The English left back who was once considered among the best full backs in the world, has started in only 12 matches so far in the league. Jose Mourinho has used Branislav Ivanovic as the right back, while move Cesar Azpilicueta to the left back spot. Cole did get some run of games when Ivanovic was injured, but he has once again dropped back to the bench since his return. It is clear that Mourinho prefers Azpilicueta over Ashley Cole, who is even set for a pay rise at the club.

The 33-year-oldai??i??s current contract with the club expires at the end of this season and at the moment it seems unlikely that he will extend his eight years stays at the club beyond that. Cole, who was part of famous Arsenal invincible squad, moved to Chelsea in 2006 in a much talked about transfer and has enjoyed an extremely successful spell with the Blues. The Englishman has won one league title, four FA Cups, one league cup, one Champions League and one Europe league during his stay.

Cole is unlikely to have any shortage of offers from interested club if and when he leaves Chelsea and his former team mate Thierry Henry has urged the left back to join him at New York Red Bulls at the end of this season. But Coleai??i??s big wage bill is the only concern for any interested club at the moment and he is will have to take a huge pay-cut before signing his next contract.

Jose Mourinho has now hinted that Cole could leave the club in the summer. The Portuguese manager insisted that although he would like to retain him in the squad, Thierry Henry and New York Red Bulls might have a better offer for him.

“Yes, he (Cole) has (got a future at Chelsea), but maybe Thierry has a better proposal.

“Maybe Thierry is doing with Red Bulls the same as David (Beckham) is doing in Miami. Maybe he’s buying Red Bulls! I have to ask Thierry Henry (what’s happening with Cole).” ai??i?? The Chelsea manager told the press.

Recent reports in England have also linked Ashley Cole with a shock move back to his former club Arsenal, which seems highly unlikely, while reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid are considering a move for him as replacement for Fabio Coentrao, who is likely to leave in the summer.
