Chelsea FC have handed over a trial to the son of Legendary Liberian striker George Weah.
The 46-year-old veteran did have s short, but largely uneventful, spell in England at the fag end of his career. Weah played 11 matches for Chelsea, when he was signed on loan from Milan in 2000 and he did score two crucial goals in Chelsea victorious FA cup campaign in that season. But he failed to make his move to Stamford Bridge a permanent one and was instead signed by newly promoted Manchester City.
Now Weahai??i??s son Timothy has been provided an opportunity to make a name for himself at the London club. The 13-year-old has joined the club on trial with an opportunity to earn a place for himself the Chelsea academy.
George Weah is confident about his sonai??i??s talent to make it big as a footballer and revealed that he contact Gary Staker to arrange this trial for Timothy.
“He is talented.
“We just wanted to give him the opportunity and we also want him to enjoy the game he has passion for, so I brought him to Chelsea just for a trial and for a different experience.
“When I left London, I kept ties with Chelsea and when my son wanted to come to England to play, the first person I called was the club’s liaison officer Gary Staker.
“Gary made it happen and Timothy is enjoying it. He has started training already and he is happy.” ai??i?? The former Chelsea player was quoted in press.
Timothy will now have the opportunity to an academy which has some of the most talented young players in England currently ai??i?? a fact proved by the clubai??i??s recent success in the NextGen series. The Chelsea fans would hope that George Weahai??i??s son can emulate his father and become one of the stars in world football in the future.
