Chelsea FC defender David Luiz is happy with Wayne Rooney being linked with the club and would welcome the Manchester United striker at Stamford Bridge.
Wayne Rooney has been in the news recently, but for the all the wrong reasons. The England international has made a transfer request, which was officially confirmed by Sir Alex Ferguson during a historic day when Manchester United lifted the Premier League title with Sir Alex and Paul Scholes bidding farewell to Old Trafford for the last time.
Wayne Rooney was excluded from the squad that took on Swansea in their last home game of the season and later Sir Alex revealed that the former Everton man wasnai??i??t ai???keen to playai??i??. But Sir Alex has stated that despite his transfer request, the club is not prepared to sell him in the summer.
“I don’t think Wayne was keen to play, simply because he has asked for a transfer,” The Manchester United manager was quoted in the post-match conference.
Rooneyai??i??s transfer request couldnai??i??t have come at worse time for him. The fans were obviously disappointed with the fact that this is second request in the last three years. In fact some set of supporters even booed him when he went to receive his Premier League winnerai??i??s medal. As things stand, the first job for the new manager David Moyes will be to sort out the future of Wayne Rooney.
But there will be no shortage of suitors for the 27-year old, although his high wage means only few club will be able to afford him ai??i?? unless he agrees to take a pay-cut. Chelsea, one of the few clubs who can actually afford his salary, have been linked with a move for the striker with reports suggesting that Roman Abramovich personally sanctioned a A?30Ai??million transfer fee for the United hit-man.
Meanwhile Chelsea defender has welcomed these speculations linking Rooney with the London club. The Brazilian was full of praise for the quality that Rooney would bring to the squad if he decides to join the Blues.

The problem for Wayne Rooney is that he might have gone to point of no return this time around.
