Chelsea FC midfielder and Belgium team mate Eden Hazard has suggested Kevin De Bruyne to leave the London club in order to gain regular first team football before the World Cup.
Kevin De Bruyne joined Chelsea in January last year and since then he has made only six appearances for the club after spending loan spells at Genk and Werder Bremen. The 22-year-old ended the World Cup qualification campaign as the top scorer for Belgium as they secured their place in the mega-event to be held in Brazil next year.
But De Bruyne has started in only two Premier League matches for Chelsea this season and his place in the national team could be in jeopardy if he continues to miss out on first team action with his club. Chelsea have an embarrassment of riches in the attacking third of the field and De Bruyne has to compete with the likes of Willian, Hazard, Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Juan Mata for a place in the side. Fellow countryman Eden Hazard has now suggested Kevin De Bruyne to leave the club in order to gain regular first team action before the World Cup.
“Playing at a World Cup without being in action for a year, I think that’s very difficult,” said Hazard.
“I think for him that leaving and playing would be good.
“If we want to get the best out of Kevin, it’s best if he leaves.” ai??i?? Hazard told in an interview.
De Bruyne has been linked with a loan move away from the club and the likes of Anderlecht and Wolfsburg are interested in signing the attacker. The German club have already confirmed their interest in re-signing him on loan, and could make an official offer in January. De Bruyne has also accepted that a loan move could be on the cards, but insisted that he has no regrets about joining Chelsea.
“Out on loan? Maybe, but it’s Chelsea that decide. I haven’t talked yet with anybody about what will happen in January, there are still two months to go, and everything can happen. I feel well, and I have no regrets about my decision to remain.” ai??i?? The Chelsea midfielder said.
Jose Mourinho was in the stands to watch the friendly between Belgium and Columbia. But Belgium and De Bruyne failed to make an impression on the game and lost out the game 2-0. But the former Genk midfielder expressed his delight at being able to start a match instead of watching from the bench, which has been a norm at Chelsea.
“For me, it is just nice to play again, to stand on the pitch and not be sidelined,” he said then.
“It’s always difficult for players when they are next to the team. Chelsea is my club, Jose is my boss and he will decide what is going to happen.” ai??i?? De Bruyne told the press.
