Chelsea FC travel to Upton Park to face West Ham United in what is expected to be an intriguing London derby. It is will be the 100^th meeting between both these sides in all competitions and Chelsea have had the upper hand in this fixture in recent times. The Blues have won four out of their last six meetings against West Ham, although they did lose on their last visit to this stadium.

Chelsea had to face a tough schedule at the start of this season and hence made a relatively slow start to their campaign. But after their massive win over Manchester City at home, Chelsea have dropped points against Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion. Defensively the London club have looked vulnerable and they have managed to keep only three clean-sheets this season. Moreover, Chelseaai??i??s away form has been uninspiring to say the least. Jose Mourinhoai??i??s men have won only one of their five away games so far and they would need to improve on it.

‘We have to do better, we’ve had very difficult matches away, I think our fixtures until now were not the easiest, especially away.

‘We played already against two title contenders, we played already against Everton and Newcastle, which are always difficult stadiums. I’m not saying teams that fight for the title, but teams that fight immediately for the second block, so we’ve had difficult matches.

‘Of course we want to do better, and we need to get more points from our next five matches away than the first five.’ ai??i?? The Chelsea manager told the press.

West Ham on the other hand might be struggling in the points table, but defensively they have been excellent this season. Jose Mourinho is well aware of the fact that Sam Allardyce sets out his teams with very clear sets of instructions and Chelsea will have to be at their best to score past their organised defence.

‘It will be the same as in every other stadium in the Premier League. Teams can be different and have different philosophies or models of play, but every team is difficult.

‘I have a feeling that many teams in the Premier League are playing very defensive football, thinking about trying to stop the opponent playing and after that seeing what happens. That is producing some good results for some different teams against the considered best teams in the competition.

‘They [West Ham] are defensive and they give difficult matches to the big teams. That’s why everybody is losing points, why no team is dominant, why everybody is losing points but keeping in contact at the top of the table. That’s why this league has emotion every weekend, so I’m expecting a very difficult match.’ ai??i?? Mourinho added.

Jose Mourinho also confirmed that Fernando Torres is yet to return to full fitness and is out of contention for this game, while Ashley Cole will be part of the squad despite his problems with a rib injury.

‘Fernando [Torres] is not ready, almost but not yet. Ashley ColeAi??is selected, he still feels it [rib pain] a little bit, but it’s a situation where he will have pain for quite a bit of time.’ ai??i?? The Portuguese manager said.

Jose Mourinho also faced questions regarding Mike Rileyai??i??s apology to West Brom for the questionable penalty decision in the last game, which denied West Brom from grabbing a famous win. Mourinho was left baffled and intrigued by this decision and has demanded to know the ai???implicationsai??? of this action.

“At least now the referees know, they know one thing. If in a controversial – I’m not saying a mistake – decision that hypothetically – and, I repeat, hypothetically – favours Chelsea, they know they are going to be publicly exposed by their boss. That they know.
