Bournemouth hesitant to sell Tyler Adams amid Liverpool links

Liverpool’s interest in Tyler Adams is unlikely to lead to an immediate deal, with Bournemouth determined to keep the midfielder despite Andoni Iraola monitoring his situation.

Andoni Iraola is looking to strengthen his midfield before the transfer window closes after admitting that Liverpool’s squad remains quite thin ahead of the new season. That need could become more pressing with Curtis Jones completing a move to Inter Milan.

Adams has been an option for some time, having previously worked successfully with Iraola at Bournemouth. However, the Cherries currently have no intention of allowing the United States international to leave.

Liverpool interest in Tyler Adams yet to advance

According to Football Insider, despite the obvious connection between Iraola and Adams, Liverpool’s interest has not developed into advanced negotiations. The Reds are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as they assess potential midfield reinforcements, but Bournemouth are expected to resist any approach.

Adams remains under contract for another two years, leaving the Cherries in a relatively strong negotiating position. Bournemouth have already faced interest in several important players this summer and are reluctant to weaken Marco Rose’s squad further before the deadline.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, Football Insider explained that while the Iraola connection makes Adams an obvious name to consider, there is currently nothing advanced or pressing regarding a Liverpool move. Other Premier League clubs are also understood to have shown interest following Adams’s performances on the south coast.

Bournemouth want to keep Adams

Adams has yet to feature under Rose after suffering an injury while representing the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nevertheless, his importance to Bournemouth remains significant.

The American midfielder made 26 appearances last season and produced some impressive defensive numbers compared with other Premier League players in his position. His ability to win possession, cover ground and provide defensive protection could explain Iraola’s interest, particularly given his familiarity with the midfielder’s qualities.

Liverpool also need to replace Jones, but Bournemouth’s stance represents a significant obstacle. Adams makes plenty of sense for Liverpool because Iraola already knows exactly what he can offer. However, familiarity does not necessarily make this an easy transfer.

Bournemouth have little incentive to lose another important player, particularly with Adams still having two years remaining on his contract. Unless Liverpool make an offer capable of seriously testing the Cherries’ resolve, this looks more like a player being monitored than a deal approaching completion.
