Marcus Thuram could be available €70 million this summer

Aston Villa and Newcastle United have received a boost in their pursuit of Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram.

Things have not gone according to plan for Marcus Thuram this season. The French international has not been an undisputed starter for Inter Milan in the 2025/26 campaign, and his performances on the pitch have also suffered. As a result, the Serie A giants are seriously considering cashing in on him in the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United have emerged as two of the biggest contenders for his signature, and they have a massive boost in their pursuit as Thuram could be available for a discounted fee. According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Inter are willing to sanction his departure for €70 million.

Thuram joined Inter Milan from Borussia Monchengladbach in a Bosman move in the summer of 2023. The Frenchman has been an integral part of their first team ever since, and he has done wonders for both club and country. However, things have not been that great for him this season.

Francesco Pio Esposito’s sensational rise has forced the 28-year-old to share game time with the youngster. While he has been involved in 36 matches, Thuram has racked up just over 2,200 minutes with 17 goal contributions to his name.

While those are decent numbers, the French forward has not been at his absolute best. With Thuram struggling, Inter Milan are now reportedly ready to cash in on him. Since Pio Esposito is likely to have more game time next season, things could go from bad to worse for Thuram.

Marcus Thuram looks set for a new adventure

As a result, the Serie A table-toppers consider this summer an ideal time to let go of the former Borussia Monchengladbach attacker. While he has a release clause worth €85 million, Inter Milan are ready to sell him for €70 million.

The discounted price tag is a boost for suitors like Aston Villa and Newcastle United, who have been keeping tabs on him for some time. They have already made initial contact and could launch a move this summer.

Both Unai Emery and Eddie Howe like strikers who drift wide and drop deep to link up with teammates, making Thuram an ideal fit for their setup. Since the Frenchman is only 28, he has his prime years ahead of him, so it would certainly make sense to invest in him.

While the Nerazzurri want €70 million, the price could go down further depending on negotiations and how Thuram fares in the coming months. Since Inter Milan had an early exit from the UEFA Champions League, his sale could actually ease a lot of financial pressure as well.
