Manchester City will not part ways with 30-year-old Portuguese international Bernardo Silva in the summer transfer window amid his links with Real Madrid.
According to a report by Football Insider, Bernardo Silva is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are keen on reinforcing their midfield unit by signing a versatile playmaker in the summer transfer window. So, the 30-year-old Manchester City veteran has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.
However, a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu will not see the light of day, with Manchester City not ready to part ways with the former AS Monaco playmaker in the summer transfer window. In addition, Pep Guardiola has appointed Silva as the new club captain after the departures of Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker.
Bernardo Silva and his rise at Manchester City
Bernardo Silva has established himself as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League since joining Manchester City from AS Monaco in July 2017. While the 30-year-old has flirted with a departure from the Etihad in several summer transfer windows, he has been a go-to player for Pep Guardiola almost every season in the last eight years.
The Portuguese international has turned out over 400 times thus far for Manchester City while chipping in with 72 goals and 73 assists. Meanwhile, Silva’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs in the last few years. Real Madrid will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
La Liga adventure beckons?
Real Madrid’s interest in Bernardo Silva is understandable. The Merengues are scouring the market for a versatile playmaker this summer after parting ways with Luka Modric as a free agent. In addition, Toni Kroos has left a gaping hole in the middle of the park since calling time on his glittering career last year.
So, while Franco Mastantuono has arrived from River Plate this summer, Silva is a viable target for Real Madrid. However, a summer move for the former AS Monaco playmaker will not see the light of day, with Manchester City not ready to part ways with him in the ongoing transfer window.
In addition, Pep Guardiola has appointed Silva as the new Manchester City captain after the departures of Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker. So, Real Madrid must look elsewhere for a new midfielder this summer.
