Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign 100-cap Portuguese international Bernardo Silva from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Real Madrid Confidencial, Bernardo Silva is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a creative midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. While Los Blancos preferred signing Florian Wirtz or Bruno Fernandes, they have set their sights on the Manchester City playmaker after the top targets snubbed them.
Bernardo Silva and his career so far
Bernardo Silva has been one of the best playmakers in the Premier League since joining Manchester City from AS Monaco in July 2017. The veteran playmaker has come leaps and bounds in the last eight years, although he has started showing signs of decline in the ongoing campaign.
The 30-year-old has not been as productive as usual, managing only three goals and four assists in 40 appearances across all competitions thus far this term. Nevertheless, Silva’s stock in the market remains high, with several high-profile clubs across Europe setting their sights on him.
Widespread reports have claimed that the 100-cap Portuguese international will likely join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window. However, Real Madrid will aim to beat the competition to the Manchester City playmaker’s signature in the summer transfer window.
Will Real Madrid sign Silva?
Real Madrid’s interest in Bernardo Silva is understandable despite his advancing age. The reigning La Liga champions have struggled to regularly create chances this season, with Toni Kroos leaving a gaping hole in the midfield unit after calling time on his glittering career.
So, several candidates, including Bruno Fernandes and Florian Wirtz, have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. However, the Merengues have faced defeat in their bids to sign the two highly-revered playmakers. So, they have set their sights on the long-serving Manchester City midfielder heading into the summer transfer window.
With the 100-cap Portuguese international ready to leave Manchester City, a summer move should be possible. In addition, the 30-year-old will have less than 12 months remaining on his contract when the transfer window reopens this summer. So, a cut-price deal might be possible.
