Arsenal will reportedly compete with Chelsea for the signature of 30-year-old English international and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Jordan Pickford is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Everton stopper. However, the North London club will face stiff competition from Chelsea for the English international.
The rise and rise of Jordan Pickford
Jordan Pickford has been exceptional since joining Everton from Sunderland in a deal worth £30 million in July 2017. The 30-year-old rose in prominence in the 2016/17 season as he made a valiant effort to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League. And he has gone from strength to strength at Goodison Park despite producing a few howlers.
The English international has been a mainstay in the between the sticks for his club and country for over half a dozen years, turning out 60 times for the Three Lions. Meanwhile, Pickford has made 277 appearances thus far for Everton, keeping 75 clean sheets and conceding 398 goals.
However, Pickford’s long-term Everton future is uncertain, even though he is on a long-term contract at Goodison Park. The former Sunderland goalkeeper is a target for Premier League bigwigs like Arsenal and Chelsea heading into the summer transfer window. So, a big move might be on the cards for the experienced shot-stopper.

Chelsea’s interest in Jordan Pickford is understandable. The Blues are scouring the market for a goalkeeper as they look to part ways with Robert Sanchez after only one season. In addition, they want a shot-stopper who can usurp Djordje Petrovic as the first-choice starter. Pickford has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
As for Arsenal, they will likely part ways with Aaron Ramsdale in the summer transfer window, with the Englishman keen on leaving the North London club to resurrect his career. Interestingly, Ramsdale is a target for Chelsea, among other clubs. Pickford is thus an option worth considering for Arsenal.
Recent reports have claimed that Everton will look to price Pickford out of a summer move as they look to keep hold of him beyond the transfer window. So, a price tag of over £30 million might be on the cards for the 60-cap English international.
