Chelsea keen on Jordan Pickford

Chelsea are keen on Jordan Pickford, with the Blues eyeing a Premier League-experienced goalkeeper for their No. 1 position.

According to TBR, Chelsea are keen on Jordan Pickford as they continue to look for a new No.1, potentially as a replacement for Robert Sanchez. The Everton mainstay could become a big option should the Toffees decide to cash in on England No.1 amid PSR concerns.

Chelsea eyeing Jordan Pickford move?

Chelsea have faced different problems this season and have yet to manage to steady the ship in the goalkeeping slot. Robert Sanchez arrived in a £25 million move last summer, but after early promise, has faltered and is now their second choice behind original deputy keeper Dorde Petrovic.

Petrovic has performed decently, but he lacks the tools to play for a top-level team like Chelsea throughout the season. With that thought, the Blues have continued to focus their efforts on bringing a new keeper in the close season, with Jordan Pickford closely looked at as an option.

Pickford has had a fantastic season with Everton and might have come to a stage where he might seek a more significant challenge at the top half of the standings. He will have ambitions to challenge for honours and could put himself on the market for a bigger club to consider a move. A move to Chelsea will make plenty of sense for the Everton mainstay, but everything will depend on the Toffees’ asking price.

With three years left on his deal, Everton will demand significantly for a player entering his prime. Alternatively, Chelsea will look to exploit the PSR-led problems at the Merseyside club to find a suitable agreement with the Toffees for the England No.1.

Who are Chelsea’s other goalkeeping targets?

For a long time, Chelsea have been linked to Porto star Diogo Costa, but his evolving price tag may prove a problem for the Blues even to consider a move in a challenging financial climate. Aaron Ramsdale was a target earlier, but he, too, will cost. Plus, he might prefer to join Newcastle United, as per a few reports.

Then there have been links to Mike Maignan, but again, he could be priced out of a move due to Chelsea’s financial struggles. Hence, a move for Pickford might make sense, as they might take advantage of Everton’s economic situation and bring England No.1 to Stamford Bridge.
